Hiatus – why I decided to take a break

Hello interweb!

As some of you who read my blog regularly may have noticed, I haven’t posted in a while. I’m here to tell you why.

In a previous post back in about March 2017, I mentioned that we were moving house. We were a bit cramped in the old place and this made sense for us as a family. So we packed for a move at the end of April or beginning of May. It didn’t happen. The landlord (who owns both properties) kept bumping us back and back and before you know it, it’s Christmas!

During the first week in December we got the green light that we were to move on the 11th – not much notice but we were ready to go. So now we have moved, and have almost finished unpacking I can begin to concentrate on the blog again! Yippee!

As well as living out of boxes for 9 months, I’ve also had some health problems. I mayve touched on this subject before but over the last few years I’ve been stuck in a trifecta of illness. It started with PCOS (polycystic ovaries). I was diagnosed with this when I was about 18/19 and have just had to live with it since. I wasn’t too fussed, as other than the pain sometimes it didn’t really bother me. And ladies, let’s face it, if you didn’t have periods then wouldn’t it be a godsend? So I have lived with pcos happily for the last 10ish years. Then as I started to get older I suddenly started to pile on weight. Not a problem, I became more active. But not even that can stop it. I tried other sports and even rejoined football but I couldn’t shift the weight. I went from a 32/34″ waist to being a 44/46″ waist. As those of you who are familiar with pcos will know, weight gain is an unfortunate side effect and it makes it harder to shift the weight.

I approached my gp and explained that I’d tried dieting, and weight watchers, slimming world etc and nothing worked. I told him about my pcos and he sent me for tests.

It was then I was told that I had “non alcoholic fatty liver disease.” Something I had never heard of.

So there is my trifecta. The imbalance in hormones from my ovaries has caused the weight gain, the weight gain has cause the fatty liver and the fatty liver is making the ovaries worse because of hormones!

I am on the list for a gastric sleeve now and still going to the gym on a daily basis. So I’m sorting me!

I also decided to take a break for the kids. Moving is a massive trauma for the boys who really don’t Deal well with change. Jordan was an angel. I really don’t think we could’ve gotten it down without him and his friends doing all of the heavy lifting. I was exhausted after pulling a few late nights painting and getting the place ready for us to move in and Trish can’t lift because of her back. I’m so proud of him, and all of the kids really.

As well as this we are in the process of getting an EHCP for Finn. Jordan started a new college which he is flying through. So as you can imagine it has been a bit manic and my family needed me.

But now I’m back! I was thinking about doing a vlog on here as well as these written posts! Tell me what you think!

Happy new year!
